I am SO far behind! I just can't sew anymore tonight though!

It is nearly 2am and I am cross eyed again. I have been sewing the lacing rings on my dress. OMG it takes FOR EVER. This dress is going to be so awesome when it is done though!

*squee* My FH just booked our suite for the wedding night. We haven't made any concrete Honeymoon plans yet because he is looking for a new job and is about done with school.
, what special things do you have planned for your FH that night above and beyond the obvious ;)
Unknown to my FH I am going to dip strawberries in white chocolate and have my MOH deliver them to the hotel either Friday or early Saturday before we get there. FH said something about having champaign chilled in the room for us. Any other suggestions?

Progress in T-40 days!Collapse )

I think I want to wear a "Tall engligh riding hat" it's a renaissance hat that sorta looks like a mini top hat... sorta... anyway I am looking for a rather plain one that with go with my dusty lavender dress. White will not work. I'd rather not use black. Ideal would be a form / pattern for the hat I could cover in fabric matching my wedding dress. Then I can put a veil on the hat.

Historically Accurate Jewelry
Hello all!
I've noticed that people interested in recreating historically accurate jewelry and beadwork are scattered to the winds, so I created pastjewels in the hopes of bringing people together to share resources, designs, news, information and skills.

This will become a place to discuss all aspects of creating historically accurate jewelry!

Stop by if you're at all interested! :)

I'm planning a viking-themed wedding for next year, and I am having a hell of a hard time finding wool in autumn colours. Anyone have any ideas? I'm specifically looking for dark leaf green, chocolate brown, amber/gold and dark red. I've been to a few specialty fabric shops and ordered some swatches online, but nothing is really meeting my needs. Any thoughts are much appreciated! If someone can name a store in Ohio that sells such things, even better!

diy scrolls
Okay ladies and gentlemen,

I need some help. We are having a renaissance wedding and just decided that we want part of our vows (the part we are reciting to each other rather than the part we are repeating after the pastor) on scrolls so that we don't have to memorize them (no way I'd remember them in the emotion of the moment). My question is how to make the scrolls. I'm thinking we need some sort of split dowels that we can add decorative ends to or the like to attach to the paper or vellum to make them easier to hold open and also hopefully look better. Anyone have any suggestions on how to do it, where to get supplies, or anything? We're in San Diego, so we have Michaels and Joann's, but no Hobby Lobby in case that helps.

Thanks in advance!

Renaissance Cruise-Honeymoon
Sail on the first annual SeaFaire Cruise, Renaissance
Faire at Sea on Saturday, April 19, 2008. We will be
sailing aboard the brand new Carnival Freedom leaving
from Miami on a 7 night cruise to the Exotic Eastern
Caribbean porting in St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk
and Half Moon Cay, Bahamas.

Craig of Farrington, Wyldefyre and Ivanovich will be
joining us to perform private concerts open only to
our group. We will have an open bar meet and greet,
and other Ren-related activities such as formal garbed
group dinners, songs under the stars, and an open bar
pub sing. We will also be offering group shore

As of now the approximate cost for the cruise is:

Inside cabin  $800 per person
Outside cabin $900 per person
Balcony cabin $1100 per person

All accommodations, food, and entertainment is
included in the above price. Also included in the
price is a $50 shipboard credit per cabin, 8 X 10
group photo, commemorative T-shirt, pin and program.

In addition there will be a charge of $70 per person
for tips (for the cruise line-not for us). There is
also optional insurance coverage that can be
purchased.  There are no hidden charges.

We have 24 cabins held at this rate. Believe it or
not, Carnival increased their prices by $100 a person
in just one day. So as of now, we can only guarantee
this rate to first 24 cabins that book. If you know of
anyone who wants to sail with us, they need to get
their deposit in as soon as possible.

Please check out our web site at SeaFaire.net

vendor review for invitations
We ordered our invitations from “Invitations by Dawn” and they were fabulous. They responded quickly to my emails asking questions before the order and were very helpful. We placed our order on-line on the morning of Feb 15th and we received it last night Feb 21st. So 5 business days (if you count Saturday as a business day) from order to receipt. I certainly can’t argue with that. The invitations and enclosures were exactly what we had pictured. It all arrived very well packaged and organized.

I can’t wait to send them out. We chose our own quote for the inside of the invitation and our own wording for both the reception card and the RSVP and it all turned out great!

So, if you are looking for a place to order invitations, I highly recommend Invitations by Dawn. Thank you to those of you here who posted about them before me. I appreciate the recommendation and I hope mine helps other people as well.

(Crossposted to other wedding communities. Sorry for those who see it multiple times)

For those who may be interested, we ordered "Princess for a day"

Renaissance wedding - pro photographer's pictures
I got married in October and just now have gotten around to uploading the pro photographers pictures onto Photobucket. Mind you there are a ton of them so be forewarned. Most of them were 10 mg so these are compressed to whatever Photobucket puts them at. Some, actually many of these are not yet embellished and are raw, which is actually what we asked for. She was great and I have to say I'm very happy with them.   I even fixed a few today and liked how they came out. Now all I have to do is print it to see if it looks just as good printed. The entire set was uploaded in order, but appears to have uploaded backwards so page 19 is actually the first of the photographs starting with the getting dressed shots.

After wedding rennie banners and other stuff on ebay
The renaissance banners that I have up on ebay from our wedding are ending today in about 9 hours. I've also added a few other things too that are going really cheap. Next week more banners go up as well as other items like some round table cloths, and a 6 tier cup cake holder that was used for the 6 hour duration of the wedding, then washed and put away.   Any suggestions as to a good starting price for that? I paid about $60 for it. I'll also have some ivy garland, ivory colored napkins - washed and ironed (no stains), 2 uber cool castle lanterns (these are BIG!) too.
